Voice & Fax
A firm understanding of network routing/switching, Linux, and programming naturally lead us into exploring and utilizing Asterisk for telephony solutions.
We are comfortable with editing Asterisk configuration files for dial plans, extensions, IAX/SIP/PRI trunks, AGI scripting, CDR reporting, and so on. We have also done new installs and migrations to FreePBX based solutions for GUI management including Trixbox Community Edition and Elastix.
On the hardware front there are also many choices. For PRI or analog lines, Sangoma cards are recommended for best quality and technical support. There are many Asterisk compatible phones, but our experience has shown that Polycom Soundpoint IP and Aastra phones provide best value, audio quality, and flexibility.
With a merged data network and voice platform, why use traditional fax machines? Sadly, reliable Fax over IP is still not a solid option. Hylafax is a free alternative for network fax, providing powerful inbound and outbound faxing that can use all your available fax lines. We use it ourselves and are happy.
