Dave Baartman - What is your role at the company, and what are your key responsibilities?
Windows Systems Administrator – Service Team and On-Site Tech - How long have you been working in your current position, and what led you to this role?
I am a little more than 2 years at KTI. - Can you describe a typical day in your job?
I am either at home or in the office problem solving and handling recurring tickets for our clients. Two days a week I have regular client on-site visits. - What do you enjoy most about your work at Kerkhoff Technologies?
I enjoy the KTI staff and being able to collaborate to solve issues. I also enjoy meeting with clients while on-site. - What projects or accomplishments are you most proud of in your career?
When I first started in IT, I worked for myself and was able to resolve a corrupted Active Directory for a High School. After that I was the Lead Network Administrator for a company with over 300 employees setting up servers, workstations and converting existing analogue phone system to VOIP. Currently now working at KTI continuing to broaden my spectrum for IT. - How do you collaborate with other team members to achieve your goals?
Regular meetings using Teams and its various channels. - What are some recent developments or innovations in your field that you find exciting?
Virtual Reality is quite fascinating, and AI also is interesting - What’s your number 1 tech tip (that you personally use) to our audience? E.g. A tool you use, a workflow, etc.
When trying to solve a problem, always start with finding out what has changed recently and then start looking for simple solutions first.

Listening to music on the way home and going out for dinner with my wife. - Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of work that you’re passionate about?
I like sports. I play ice hockey and golf. - Are there any books, movies, or TV shows you’ve been enjoying lately?
Just finished both seasons of “Reacher”. - If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
Probably Italy or Greece because of the history. - What’s your favorite type of cuisine or restaurant, and what dish can you never resist ordering?
Mexican or Greek. Chicken Souvlaki at Greek Islands. - Can you share a fun or interesting fact about yourself that most people at the company don’t know?
I have 2 different colored eyes. Do you have any pets? If so, tell us about them!
I don’t have any pets but have had many cats in the past.- What’s your go-to music playlist or artist for getting pumped up before a busy day?
I enjoy hard rock from the 80s and 90s. - Are there any charitable causes or organizations that you’re passionate about and support?
We give regularly to multiple causes supported by our church. These can be needs within the church or within the community. - What’s your favorite quote or piece of advice that you live by?
